How to Download X (Twitter) Videos on iPhone

X has no save button. Videos play in the timeline and that is it — there is no way to keep a copy for later, and screen recording gives you a lower-quality clip with the interface baked in.
On an iPhone you can save the real MP4 using Safari alone. No app, no login, no shortcut to install. The only slightly fiddly part is getting the file from Files into Photos, which is covered below.

Step by step

Copy the post link
Tap the share icon underneath the post and choose "Copy link". Links from x.com and twitter.com both work.

Open the downloader in Safari
Go to keepclip.live/twitter-video-downloader.

Tap the box, choose Paste, then press Download to load the available qualities.

Save, then move it to Photos
Pick a resolution. Safari saves it to Files, so open Files, go to Downloads, tap the video, tap Share, then choose "Save Video".

Why the video goes to Files and not your camera roll
Safari on iOS never downloads media straight into Photos. Everything lands in the Files app first, which is an Apple security behaviour rather than a fault with the download.
Moving it across takes one extra step: Files, then Downloads, then tap the clip, tap the Share icon in the bottom-left, and choose "Save Video". After that it behaves like any other clip in your camera roll and can be edited, trimmed or reposted.
GIFs on X are not really GIFs
When somebody posts a "GIF" on X, the platform converts it to a silent looping MP4 behind the scenes — the file is a video even though the interface labels it a GIF. That is why it saves as an .mp4 rather than a .gif.
For most uses this is an improvement: the file is far smaller, the quality is much better, and it plays anywhere. If you specifically need an animated GIF file, you will need to convert the MP4 afterwards.

When a download will not work
- The account is private or protected — no tool can reach those posts.
- The post has been deleted, or the account has been suspended.
- The video is age-restricted or region-restricted behind a login.
- You copied the profile link rather than the individual post link. Make sure the address contains /status/ and a long number.
Keeping the file small enough to share
Longer clips from X can run to tens of megabytes, which is awkward on WhatsApp and slow to send over mobile data. Running the file through a browser-based compressor first shrinks it substantially with very little visible difference, and because the compression happens on your own device the video is never uploaded anywhere.
